The piano tuner spent the morning at my house yesterday. He was here just six months ago and at that time we made an appointment for this week. He didn’t call to make sure I would be home and he arrived twenty minutes early. When I opened the door, he walked right in and began... Continue Reading →
Wish You Were Here
My guy is in Vegas for the weekend, staying at a triple five star hotel as a rewards trip for some customers. A triple five means that it has earned the five star title as a hotel, a restaurant and a spa and there are only 13 hotels in the world that have this title.... Continue Reading →
Adventure
The countdown has begun, without really meaning to. Our girl is leaving in just a few days to start a new adventure. It's been a long time coming; we have known for years that our oldest daughter would do something in the area of missions, and she is now putting details to those plans. Jessica... Continue Reading →
Just
Ever noticed how so many Christians use the word ‘just’ in their prayers? “Lord, just bless this person/instance/organization……..just fill each person with your spirit……just have your way in this situation….” Where did this come from? Why do we say this? It almost sounds as though we are limiting God, like we are only asking for... Continue Reading →
Lessons in the Hike
'Want to hike the Grand Canyon?' This was a quick text my husband sent me a couple of years ago. He went on to say that he was having lunch with a friend who hikes it each year and we were invited to join him. It sounded like a great idea, neither of us had... Continue Reading →
Uptown Funk
I have mentioned before that I attend a dance class at my local gym a couple of times a week. What started out as an exercise in humility turned into a real workout where I have the opportunity to move in a way I rarely do in life. The instructor is my age but she's... Continue Reading →
Coincidence

Next day, or a couple of days later, there you are again, looking for something to wear... Continue Reading →
Rocks
My guy and I were sitting on some large rocks, drinking in the beauty of the Mediterranean Sea. The sun was starting to set and couples were coming near with food and drink and blankets to watch the last few minutes of light leave their world. He asked me which way I wanted to take... From the time I was able to understand the idea of dying on a cross, up until just a few weeks ago, I honestly thought, “Big deal. If everyone’s life was at stake, I would die on the cross for them too.”
The truth is, having your hands and feet nailed to wood, wearing a crown of thorns and hanging by your hands for hours is incredibly painful- but it’s just not that big of a deal.
But obviously, Jesus dying for us was, in fact, a HUGE deal.
So, what are we missing?
Luke 22: 39-46 is all about Jesus praying on the Mount of Olives right before he was crucified. After reading this scripture, it is obvious that Jesus was terrified of what was coming. It says He was literally sweating blood, He kept praying, “My Father! If it is possible, let this cup of suffering be taken…

Critic
Ever been told you have a critical spirit? I have, not by a person, but God has convicted me of it time and again. If you tend to look at something - a performance, the layout of a store, a beautiful scene, the efficiency of a group working together - and say this is really... Continue Reading →
