I just started working at a restaurant. I was not looking for a job, but happened upon a new place nearby; it’s an organic restaurant that serves locally sustained food with a chef driven menu, my kind of place. I went inside and immediately had a strong feeling that I needed to be a part of what they were doing. After talking with my guy about it, I inquired and found out they needed more help. I have not waited tables since college, about 25 years ago.
I couldn’t really explain why I felt a pull to this place as I started training last week, this isn’t work that requires my education or skill set, but on the second day I began to understand. As it turns out, the restaurant owner is a Christian who opened the place as a tool for ministry. He would like to start a Bible study before work and also have us available for prayer over customers. This isn’t obvious to the casual observer and that is how he wants it to be, an atmosphere of love and service without an agenda.
Waiting tables is a stretch for me, but serving others and having a platform to witness from? Oh yeah, I may have found my sweet spot.
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. 1 John 4:7
Wow God is so good! Way to listen to Him when we don’t know why He is calling!
Thanks, my dear friend!
Excellent idea…my wife Susie and I will be praying for you as you learn your new job, and no doubt get stretched spiritually, and for the owner’s continued success…be encouraged!
Wow, I am so grateful for your prayers and your encouragement. It’s called Harvest Cafe.
Excellent name…be encouraged!
