This is my new favorite food for the season, a combination of so many flavors and it gets better every day, marination in your fridge! It is a beautiful salad filled with color that I hoard for myself when possible, eating it bit by bit. I got caught finishing it off last night at bedtime.... Continue Reading →
Greatest Show on Earth
All Moms know about the witching hour; the last sixty minutes of the day before Dad gets home and rescues you from Crazyland. For some reason, it is the time of day when the kids are at their absolute worst, more tantrums are thrown and messes made in this short span of time than the whole rest of the day. It’s also when you are trying to get dinner started and transition into the evening hours.
When I was in the middle of this chaos (and it lasted for years) I found something that worked really well to keep us on an even keel. We put on a show. Most every single day. Everybody had to put on a costume or something very beautiful and special. Buzz Lightyear, Spider Man, Pocahontas and many, many of her princess friends came to our shows. The players would then sell tickets, sometimes made…

Lay It Down
In the early years of our marriage I had the ability to run a gamut of emotions in the first hour of the day; my guy never knew what to expect because I could show signs of bitterness and frustration and enthusiasm and charm without thinking about it. I believed it was my right to do this,... Continue Reading →
Apple Crisp with Salted Caramel Ice Cream
I was visiting our daughter, son in law and new grandson and they had two big bags of freshly picked apples. I had to make something with them, so I found a tasty Apple Crisp recipe from FoodNetwork.com and tweaked it just a bit for the vegan family I was feeding. The hardest part is... Continue Reading →
Feel What You Feel
I started taking Pilates classes at the beginning of this year. Behind Every Great Man…
What were you thinking?? Are you serious?? I just don’t trust you. Three statements that can crush a man. There are many more, but they all share similar characteristics; from the woman they love, these words inflict wounds that do not heal. I don’t think most women understand how much impact we have on our men. There are so... Continue Reading →
Blackberry Cinnamon Rolls
We have a terrific vegan restaurant in town that served Blackberry Cinnamon Rolls for dessert earlier this year, then promptly changed the menu and pulled this little treasure out of the rotation after I was hooked on them! So I had to go looking for a suitable homemade version, this one isn't vegan but it... Continue Reading →
Be Gentle
I have a friend who grew up in a world very different from mine. She was surrounded by adults who did not take notice of her, and neglected her needs for the most part. As she grew, she began receiving attention, but not the kind that she needed or wanted. The early years of her... Continue Reading →
