Food For Thought

tattooImagine….really thinking about each word before saying it because it would stay with you forever. We have a choice every single day to speak life and encouragement or gossip and hate. We tell our teens to be careful of everything they type and text because it can be saved or retrieved….but what about what we say aloud? I have been so reckless with my tone and words over the years. I need to get this right.

But encourage one another daily,as long as it is called today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. Hebrews 3:13

  1. Hmmm…I think it comes easier for quiet people. I’m pretty quiet, so I usually have ample time to think before I speak. That’s not to say I never have to apologize, but the funny thing is…I’m usually aware of
The way it came across immediately after I’ve said it. The problem comes when I have to apologize, which is a pride issue. πŸ™‚ We all have something to work on, the beauty is you’ve recognized it. You go, dear!

  2. I think that is part of the reason it takes me so long to write a post. There are times when I agonize over the “right” word of phrase. Words can be emotionally loaded and easily change the intent of the writer or alter the context.

James 3:10 NIV Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be.

    1. It’s true that the right word can change everything, but it’s also impossible to predict the lens of the reader. I like the saying, I can only be responsible for what I said, not for what you understand! πŸ™‚

  3. It seems so easy to just TALK without realizing that our words have the power to change and impact those around us including ourselves. I believe the words we speak into the lives of others will come from an overflow of what we are speaking into our own lives!

“But what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a person.” Matthew 15:18 (ESV)

    GREAT POST!!
